​About Decision Support System​


Decision support System(DSS), for monitoring implementation of developmental schemes/programmes of the departments of government of Karnataka, is a scheme of Planning Department sanctioned vide GO No: PD 8IMM 2011, Dated:06-02-2012. The Centre for e-Governance is implementing the scheme for Planning Department.



Decision Support System (DSS) captures the information on the Schemes implemented across the State directly from the data generation points i e., the implementing officers. The which is being currently captured every month in a Monthly Program Implementation Calendar (MPIC) format. This information would serve as inputs for a robust Business Intelligence system to get real time and consistent information on the implementation of the Schemes. This would also provide insights in to data collected and aid decision making for the various line departments of the Government.





To plan and monitor the various welfare and developmental schemes run by the various line departments, administrative departments, Boards and Corporations which are under the Government of Karnataka.




Some of the key objectives of the Decision Support System (DSS) are as follows:

  • To capture the information on schemes implemented across the State directly from the data generation points.

  • To transform the planning and monitoring landscape of Karnataka through informed decision making.

  • To reduce cost burden on the Government by accurately capturing information and tracking of schemes.

  • To effectively monitor and review at State/District/Taluka levels.


Key Activities


Some of the key activities are as follows:

  • The functionality of the DSS system was explained to all HODs during a meeting organized on 27-Jan-2012 at Vikasa Soudha, under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary Planning.

  • Web enabled MIS Application Software has been developed.

  • 4 Pilot Departments (Education, Health, Forest and Horticulture) and Fisheries adopted the software for capturing information of plan Schemes of 2011-12.

  • 26 training programs were conducted for the users of 5 Departments.

  • 1,843 District level and HOD level Officers were trained.

  • Preparation of User Manual.

  • User Creation by way of mapping the Plan Schemes to the DDOs of 12 Departments.
