About us:
The Department of Parliamentary Affairs and Legislation emerged as an Independent Department of the State Government Secretariat on 22 nd January, 1996, combining the work of Parliamentary Affairs with the work of Legislation earlier performed in the erstwhile Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs. The New allocation is ordered in Government Notification No.DCA 1 ARB 96, dated:22.1.1996.

What we do:
Legislation is our core business. Incidentally it co-ordinates with the Legislature in the Introduction, consideration and passing of the Bills and seeing through till these become Acts of Legislature. Legislation covers sub-ordinate Legislation too, in the form of Rules, Regulations and Notifications. We also look after codification of Laws and their publication from time to time.
