This Institute mainly works on Two areas:  Training and  Research

Training

Training helps the entrant by inculcating occupational skill and knowledge making him familiar with the objectives of the departments, to which he belongs and his potential contribution in the furtherance of the departmental goal.

In service training : Has the twin aims of motivating the employee to make his best effort and helping him to improve his performance and skills there by improving the competency in his delivery of work.

Pre entry training : This aims at helping the future employees to equip themselves the necessary skills required for their respective jobs.

Keeping these in view, this Institute provides short term and long term training programmes to the States/officers of Employment and Training Department, Instructors/Principals of ITIs as well as to private individuals. This Institute also conducts tailor made programmes as per needs of the Industry and ITIs. The Training section is having well equipped class rooms, latest Audio Visual Aids equipments, experienced faculties and sharing the knowledge of Guest Faculties in different fields is also taken.

Research

Conducts problem oriented research studies on different aspects of Vocational Training to bring qualitative improvement in training and effective implementation of Vocational Training Schemes as per Government policies. STARC prepares standard formats for various records used in ITI's , Lab / Workshop manuals for ITI's and also STARC prepares / revises course curriculum under the scheme of CTS, ATS, as per the industrial needs through Trade committee meetings comprising of Trade experts, representatives of industries and training providers.

AIM:

  • To enhance the capability of JTOs' in imparting CTS training by adopting training methodology

 OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:

            At the end of this training the participant will be able to;

  • Explain the duties and responsibilities  of  JTO,

  • Prepare and use suitable teaching Aid

Till now the Centre has trained around 2384 Staff in different areas. Particularly the Centre has trained 183 JTOs in PoT module ( 3 Month's  programme) out of which  94 are from Govt and 89 from Aided /Unaided ITIs.. Teaching models and WIMs have have also been developed for PoT module.

The Centre proposes to implement CTI course in Electronic Mechanic trade, in the beginning.  Fitter and Electrician trades to be started in a phased manner and shall be completed within 2 years. Mentor's suggestion will be taken and suitable modification will be done in implementing the above trades at the Centre successfully.
