MEASLES CAMPAIGN VACCINE

World Health Organization(WHO) currently recommends two dose of measles vaccine under Routine Immunization.

The Universal Immunization Programme(UIP) of the Government of India(GoI) had included one dose of measles vaccine between 9-12 months of age since 1985. The overall coverage with one dose of measles vaccine has been 69% according to DLHS-3 Coverage survey with wide variation between state(47% to 99%).

From 2010, based on recommendations from National Technical Advisory Group-India(NTAGI) GoI has decided to introduce a second dose of measles vaccine in the UIP through state specific strategies based on evaluated coverage of 1st dose of measles vaccine.
