Jana Sanjivini Stores scheme involves setting up of Generic Stores in the hospitals of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education. Presently Jana Sanjivini Stores are being set up in 40 hospitals of Health and Family Welfare Department and Medical Education. MoU is being signed by Hindustan Latex Limited with each of the hospital where Jana Sanjivini stores are being set up. Out of 40 hospitals, Lifecare Centre (LCC) outlets for surgical implants, diagnostic centres and medical imaging centres are being set up in 14 hospitals by entering into a second MoU by HLL. HLL will sell the generic medicines at Government of Karnataka approved prices and other products including the ones covered under National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) at prices less than MRP.
HLL will submit a list of medicines to the department which will be placed before the Therapeutic Committee which will finalise the list as per the requjirements in comparison with the list of medicines already approved and listed in the MoU and a Committee chaired by Director, HFW Services and consisting of Drugs Controller and Karnataka Drug Logistics and Warehousing Society approves the prices at which these drugs can be sold at the General Store run by the HLL. The scheme envisages that the user hospital where Jana Sanjivini Store is set up can buy drugs, medicines, consumables etc from the concerned Jana Sanjivini stores it is required for in patient treatment.
