Completed Project :Mapping of BAMUL Milk Supply Routes and Distribution Outlets

Mapping of BAMUL Milk Supply Routes and Distribution Outlets

BAMUL has Bangalore Urban and Rural, and Ramanagara districts of Karnataka state as its area of operation for milk procurement and selling milk in part of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) area. BAMUL procures milk from about 3672 villages in these districts of Bangalore Urban and Rural, and Ramanagara and has about 342170 milk producer members and 1938 Dairy Co-operative Societies. The network of milk procurement routes are about 149 criss-crossing all the three districts. The BAMUL is facing various problems in milk procurement and milk supply as it has no spatial data about large number of milk producer members, location of dairy milk co-operatives and milk routes for both procurement and supply of milk. Hence, BAMUL requested KSRSAC to map supply routes and distribution outlets in BBMP area.

Objectives

e To locate milk outlets/retailers and mapping of milk distribution routes,
e To create geospatial database of the milk retailers and milk supply routes and to link with Management Information System (MIS) data,
e Development of a desktop application for management of distribution outlets and sales.

Summary Of Work

e The Centre took up GPS survey of all milk distribution outlets identified by BAMUL using GPS instrument.
e Mapping the routes of milk distribution from BAMUL premises to outlets on the geo-referenced base map.
e Integration of MIS data related to milk distribution outlets.
e Development of a desktop application - e-NANDINI.
