Registrar of Co-operative Societies (ROCS)

The Department of Cooperation at the Government level has a secretariat and a five tier field department comprising of the State, region, district, sub-division and taluka levels.     
The Department of Co-operation at the Government level is headed by a Minister of cabinet rank. 

At the Secretariat, the Principal Secretary to Government, Department of Co-operation, looks after the working of the Departments of Co-operation, Co-operative Audit, Agriculture Marketing and the State Warehousing Corporation. 

At the State Head Quarters level, the Registrar of Co-operative Societies is the Head of the Department of Co-operation.  He is also the Registrar General of Money Lenders and Pawn Brokers and the Registrar of Chits.  He functions as the Registrar General under Karnataka Societies Registration Act 1960 with effect from 07-05-2008.  He exercises statutory powers under the KCS Act 1959, the Karnataka Money Lenders Act 1961, Karnataka Pawn Brokers Act 1961 and Chit Funds Act 1982.
