Bangalore Megacity Scheme
The Megacity Project envisages the overall improvement
in the quality of life of Bangaloreans by providing developed
infrastructure facilities, modernized transport, road safety,
environmental improvements, slum upgradation, easing of
traffic congestion by construction of flyovers and under
ram, pedestrian subways etc.
A total of 54 projects amounting to Rs.800.07 crores have
been sanctioned by the sanctioning committee for the Megacity
Project. So far, 16 projects have been completed. The total
grant sanctioned was 350.36 crores for these projects. During
the year 2003-04, GOI had released Rs. 21.66 crores. State’s
matching share of Rs.64.70 crores has been released. Finance
department is requested to release the balance state's matching
share early during 2004-05.
Integrated Development of Small & Medium Towns (IDSMT)
Integrated Development of Small and Medium Towns (IDSMT)
is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, initiated in the Sixth
Five Year Plan period and continued in subsequent Plans.
The Scheme is targeted at strengthening small and medium
towns as regional growth centers, so that migration to large
and metropolitan cities is reduced. A "harmonious pattern
of settlements" is thus envisaged, with the establishment
of 'complementary' linkages between villages, towns and
cities'.
During the year 1995-96, the scheme was revised &
the financial assistance hitherto given as "Loan"
was changed to "Grant Component" in the ratio
of 60:40 under the scheme. For the period from 1994-2003,
116 towns have been selected. Out of them, Government of
India has released funds in respect of 49 towns amounting
to 4060.06 lakhs. 27 towns project reports are approved
by central & state Government.
Accelerated Urban Water Supply Scheme (AUWSP)
The Accelerated Urban Water Supply Scheme (AUWSP) a centrally
sponsored scheme is being implemented in the State through
Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board. So far,
29 schemes are technically cleared by Government of India
under AUWSP, out of which 13 schemes are already commissioned
and 12 schemes are in progress at various stages. During
the current year, an amount of Rs. 12 crores has been released
under this programme. During the year 2 number of schemes
have been commenced against the annual target of 4 number
of scheme
Swarna Jayanthi Shahari Rozgar Yojana
The Swarna Jayanthi Shahari Rozgar Yojana, (SJSRY) is
an Urban Poverty alleviation programme. It is implemented
in the State from 1.12.1997 in 215 Urban Local Bodies. The
SJSRY has mainly two components viz., (1) Urban Self-Employment
Programme (USEP) (2) Urban Wage Employment Programme (UWEP).
So far, since its inception under this scheme, Rs.104.65
crores have been utilized as against the total available
resources of Rs. 115.54 crores. 26694 beneficiaries were
given assistance to start Micro Enterprises, 1084 DWACUA
groups were formed and 46905 beneficiaries were provided
training in various skills. Under Urban Wage Employment
Programme component 7050 works have been completed and 67.5
lakh mandays of employment was generated.
