Powers and Duties of Assistant Director of Horticulture of District Watershed Development Office

 

  • Works under t​​he Administrative control of the DWDO and also under Technical guidance of Joint Director of Horticulture and in charge of planning, executing and reporting of Horticulture programmes in the District Watershed Development Programmes.
  • Develops liaison with the Scientists of University of Agricultural Sciences, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Hesaraghatta, and Department of Horticulture etc. Other line departments, credit institutions, etc. and ensure people's participation in the programme.
  • Ensure timely survey, preparation of plans and estimates, proper execution, accounting, recording and reporting.
  • Accords administrative and technical sanctions as per the delegation of financial powers.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure field checks on the programme activities not lesser than the stipulated proportion to ensure field success and to guide and report.
  • Allocation of works to field staff and conduct and ensure works of quality of planting materials.
  • Submission of regular progress reports, accounts, NDC bill etc. to the D.W.D.O.
  • Associates closely with the officers of the Watershed Development Team in planning, monitoring and evaluating projects.
  • Review tour programmes / diaries of Assistant Horticultural Officers and accord approval.
  • Submission of tour programmes and diaries well in time every month and obtain approval from D.W.D.O.
  • Submitting compliance report on the inspection notes of inspecting officers after taking necessary and timely action.
  • Monitor and guide the AHO, HA and others in proper implementation of programme activities by timely field supervision and ensure quality planting materials.
  • To review regularly programme performance and submit reports to DWDOs.
  • Minimum 15 field visits per month.
  • Any other work entrusted by higher authorities from time to time.
  • ​Ensure integration with other sectors for integrated Watershed Development Department.
  • Responsible for progress in schemes / components entrusted for which is in-charge.​
