Powers and Duties of Horticultural Assistant of District Watershed Development Office


  • ​Work under the technical guidance and control of Assistant Horticultural Officer.
  • Assist Asst. Horticultural Officer in selection and surveying the area with the help of gardeners in the preparation of estimates and plans for developing Horticulture.
  • Execute works strictly in accordance with approved plans and estimates in his jurisdiction for developing horticulture activities under the guidance of Asst. Horticultural Officer.
  • Responsible for recording, certification, maintenance of register and other records connected with works and furnish work completion report and other periodical reports in connection to all horticulture activities.
  • Involve in conducting demonstrations, advice to farmers school teachers for promoting horticultural activities and to arrange night meetings to appraise about the concept of watershed development programme.
  • Associate closely with other sector field staff in a watershed area.
  • Minimum 22 field visits per month.
  • Submit diary/tour progrmme to ​​Asst. Horticultural Officer well in time and obtain approval.
  • Allot works to the Gardeners in his jurisdiction and guide them in execution of day-to-day works in nursery and other developmental works.
  • Any other item of work as may be entrusted to him by the higher authorities from time to time.
  • Responsible to undertake relevant timely follow-up action on going and spill over activities of horticulture programmes and to ensure field success.
  • Ensure integration with other sectors for integrated Watershed Development.
  • Responsible for progress in schemes / components entrusted for which he is in-charge.
  • Associates with watershed associations village Forest Committees and other social institutions, committees and ensure participatory management of watershed programme.​
