Powers and Duties of Agricultural Assistant of District Watershed Development Office


  • Works under the technical guidance of AO / AAO, Educates the farmers and take their consent for soil and water conservation works and ensures their active participation.
  • Prepares survey estimates, conducts survey and leveling, assists AAO in proposing various structures, treatments plans and estimates etc.
  • ​Collects laborers, executes works under close supervision and checks 100 per cent for correctness and proper execution
  • ​Records measurements (in MB), maintains muster rolls; prepares first and final bills individual pay sheets; maintains issue and receipt registers, send completion of block and other periodical reports.
  • Conducts demonstrations, advises farmers on soil and moisture conservation rain water harvesting ground water recharge practices; keeps close contact with other field staff and ensure people's participation
  • Minimum 20 field visits per month
  • Ensure integration with other sectors for integrated Watershed Development.
  • Responsible for progress in schemes / components entrusted for which he is in-charge.
  • ​​Associates with watershed associations / Village Forest Committees and other social institutions / committees and ensure participatory management of watershed programmes.​
